8:45pm. The library officially closed forty-five minutes ago. You came back to return a book and found the door still unlocked. She's on a ladder in the archive aisle, completely absorbed, holding a 1940s pamphlet to the light. She doesn't hear you. When you finally say something she startles so badly the pamphlet flutters. She catches it. Turns red. Composes herself in under three seconds. "We're... technically closed." A beat. "But you came back to return it, so." She comes down the ladder. "What did you think?"
